Our Wine of the Week

The Raisins Dorés (golden berries) are a heritage clone of Aligoté, planted in old vineyards around Volnay. Michel Lafarge treats this often-overlooked variety with the same care and precision as his Pinot Noirs. The result in 2022 is a focused, mineral-driven white wine with clarity and depth.

This is not a fruity or showy Aligoté. It’s dry, structured, and quietly expressive — a serious interpretation of the grape from one of Burgundy’s most respected domaines.

Tasting Notes

Color:
Pale gold with silvery reflections – clear, almost transparent.

Nose:
Fine and cool. Citrus zest, green pear, white blossoms. Beneath: wet stone, a touch of sea salt. With time in the glass: lemon balm, almonds, a hint of chalk.

Palate:
Precise and linear. The acidity is filigree – supporting, never sharp. Green apple, grapefruit, white currant.

Finish:
Long and clean, with a chalky, slightly saline finish.

Serving suggestion:
Serve chilled at 10–12 °C. Excellent with oysters, sashimi, or simple goat cheese. Also a meditative solo glass.

This is a refined, honest Aligoté with tension and finesse — a great expression of terroir and old vines.
