The 171ème Édition
The Krug Grande Cuvée 171ème Édition embodies the quintessence of Krug’s craftsmanship. This special edition was composed around the 2015 harvest. Despite these challenges, a remarkable balance and finesse was achieved thanks to the careful selection of the wines and the long maturation period in the Krug cellars. Each bottle of this edition is a tribute to the long tradition and heritage of Krug and a testament to the house’s unwavering dedication to quality and excellence.
The history of the vintage
The Krug Grande Cuvée 171ème Édition is the result of a unique vintage characterized by the conditions of 2015. This year was characterized by extreme heat and drought, which led to an unusual challenge for the winegrowers. Despite these adversities, the winegrowers managed to harvest grapes of exceptional quality thanks to the careful management of the vineyards and the timely rainfall towards the end of the summer. The 171ème Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée is therefore not only a reflection of the 2015 vintage, but also a tribute to the art and skill of the winegrowers who produced outstanding grapes under difficult conditions.
Tasting notes
The fine bubbles dance lightly and vivaciously, while the nose is caressed by a bouquet of blossoming flowers, ripe fruit and delicate spices. Notes of marzipan and gingerbread lend the wine a subtle sweetness, while grilled nuances and a hint of citrus fruit lend a refreshing liveliness. On the palate, there is a perfect balance between fruitiness, acidity and fullness, culminating in a long-lasting and elegant finish.
