About the manufacturer
Michel Lafarge
Michel Lafarge is one of the great wineries of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy – a name synonymous with artisanal excellence and authenticity. The estate cultivates vineyards in some of the finest sites in Volnay and Meursault, where it has been producing Wines of impressive finesse and depth for generations.
What sets Michel Lafarge apart is their unwavering passion for quality and respect for the terroir. The family works traditionally and sustainably, eschewing modern quick fixes and instead focusing on patient vinification and ripe grapes. The result is Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays that exude elegance and minerality – not opulent, but precise and balanced.
Here you'll find the characteristic Volnays with their velvety texture, alongside expressive Meursaults and specialties like the Passetoutgrain Anthologie, which demonstrates how magnificent everyday Wines can be when crafted with care. Each Vintage tells the story of a special year in Burgundy.
At Wine In Time you get authentic Michel Lafarge Wines in carefully selected Vintages – ideal for those who appreciate true Burgundian classics.

Michel Lafarge
The 1999 Michel Lafarge Clos des Chènes is a masterpiece from the heart of Burgundy – a Premier Cru Pinot Noir that embodies all the finesse of Volnay. Michel Lafarge is among the region's most respected winemakers, and his Burgundy Wines are prized worldwide for their precision and elegance. The Clos des Chènes vineyard sits on a limestone slope, whose mineral-rich soils impart the wine's characteristic vibrancy.
The vinification follows traditional methods: gentle extraction, natural yeasts, and careful aging in French oak barrels. The 1999 Vintage is considered exceptional – concentrated, harmonious, with enormous aging potential. After more than two decades, this Premier Cru shows itself in its perfect form, with a perfectly integrated structure and increasingly tertiary aromas.
On the nose, the 1999 Michel Lafarge Clos des Chènes unfolds a complex bouquet of ripe cherries, wild strawberries, and raspberries, underpinned by notes of damp forest floor, truffle, and undergrowth. Subtle spice nuances—clove, black pepper—mingle with floral hints and a touch of leather. On the palate, the wine displays silky elegance: fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity, and a body that balances lightness and concentration. The finish is long, spicy, and carried by a mineral freshness—a Pinot Noir that has nothing to prove.
