Takashi Murakami – The Master of Superflat

Takashi Murakami is one of Japan’s most famous contemporary artists. Born in Tokyo in 1962, he became known for his colorful and playful style called “Superflat.” His art mixes traditional Japanese painting with pop culture, anime, and manga, creating bright, flat images full of energy and emotion.

Murakami’s smiling flowers and cartoon-like characters made him a global icon. He has worked with Louis Vuitton, Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, and Uniqlo, bringing his art into fashion and music. His work breaks the barrier between high art and popular culture, making him one of the most influential artists of our time.

Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015 tasting notes

The Nose: The bouquet opens with impressive clarity and precision. Delicate aromas of white flowers, citrus zest, and mandarin blend with a hint of fresh mint and white pepper. Beneath that, deeper nuances unfold – toasted brioche, wet stone, and a subtle iodine note – a play between freshness, spice, and salty minerality.

The Palate: On the palate, the 2015 Dom Pérignon reveals itself as both full-bodied and taut. The texture is creamy and finely beaded, carried by a vibrant acidity. At the core, a fascinating balance emerges between ripe fruit, floral elegance, and chalky depth. The finish is long, marked by a salty freshness and leaves a lasting impression of precision and energy.

A noble drop for any occasion.
