About the manufacturer
Ardbeg
Ardbeg is one of the world's most legendary whisky distilleries, located on the rugged Scottish island of Islay. Here, since 1815, they have been producing a whisky that isn't for everyone – but for those who love it, it is absolutely irreplaceable.
What makes Ardbeg special is its unadulterated intensity: The distillery relies on massive peat smoke and a distinctive personality that makes no compromises. Every Ardbeg is an experience – spicy, mineral, with that characteristic smoky depth that lingers long on the palate. This is honest whisky without any frills.
Ardbeg's portfolio is diverse: with classics like the Ten Years Old or the more experimental Wee Beastie Five Years Old, you'll find both entry points and true adventures. The single cask bottlings showcase the full spectrum of what develops in the casks, while Vintage releases like the Y2K are collector's items with a story to tell.
Whether you're an Islay whisky enthusiast or just starting to discover it, Ardbeg offers authenticity, not marketing. At Wine In Time, you'll find a curated selection of these exceptional whiskies, chosen by true connoisseurs.

Ardbeg An Oa, from the legendary Islay distillery, combines smoky intensity with seductive sweetness. Ardbeg is one of the most iconic names among Scotland's single malt whiskies, and this bottling masterfully blends its signature peaty smoke with a smooth, almost creamy texture. The name An Oa refers to the Mull of Oa, that dramatic peninsula in southern Islay where wind and sea shape the landscape.
For this single malt, Ardbeg uses a carefully composed blend of whiskies matured in different cask types: Pedro Ximénez sherry casks contribute sweetness, virgin oak adds spice, and ex-bourbon casks provide vanilla notes. These components are harmonized in the so-called Gathering Vat, a special marring cask made of French oak. Bottled without chill filtration and at 46,6% ABV, the whisky retains its full aromatic complexity.
On the nose, a captivating balance unfolds: wisps of smoke mingle with caramel, sweet vanilla, and a hint of lemon zest. The palate reveals a creamy richness, supported by toffee, dark chocolate, and maritime notes. Salt and pepper dance with the smoke, while spice notes add depth. The finish is long and warming, leaving a delicate sweetness alongside the signature Ardbeg smoke.
