About the manufacturer
Brugal
Brugal is one of the oldest and most traditional rum distilleries in the Dominican Republic – since 1888, the name has stood for artisanal quality and authentic Caribbean rum. The Brugal family has perfected its expertise over generations, creating a distinctive style that reflects the island's culture.
What makes Brugal special is the careful balance between tradition and innovation. Here you'll find rums made with local sugarcane juices and matured in a tropical climate – this gives them a natural fruitiness and warmth. The distillery uses traditional copper stills and modern techniques equally to preserve consistency and character.
Brugal 1888 is a prime example of this philosophy: an elegant, complex rum with depth, which is wonderful both neat and in cocktails. It demonstrates what is possible when craftsmanship meets first-class raw materials. At Brugal, it's not about marketing promises, but about honest, thoughtful rum production.
At Wine In Time you will find selected Brugal expressions from a supplier who places just as much value on authentic quality as the distillery itself.

Brugal 1888 EK from the Dominican Republic is a premium rum that embodies the centuries-old craftsmanship of the Brugal distillery in Puerto Plata. Since 1888, the name Brugal has stood for the highest quality and refinement – this rum lives up to its heritage.
The unique feature lies in the double maturation process: First, the rum matures in American white oak barrels before undergoing its final refinement in former sherry casks using the Spanish Solera method. This method gives it exceptional smoothness and a complex aroma profile that clearly distinguishes it from ordinary rums.
On the nose, the Brugal 1888 EK reveals gentle fruitiness, accompanied by subtle sherry notes, caramel, and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, it unfolds a silky texture with flavors of dried fruit, roasted nuts, and fine wood. The finish is long, warm, and remarkably smooth – a lingering pleasure.
At Wine In Time in Vienna, you can get this exquisite rum delivered directly to your home with express shipping. Discover our other spirits selection as well – from rare single malts to select tequilas.
Serve Brugal 1888 EK neat at room temperature in a nosing glass or over a large ice cube. It pairs wonderfully with nuts and cheese, especially aged Manchego or Parmigiano Reggiano. Order it online now and enjoy Dominican rum craftsmanship at its finest.
