Originating from the small village of Morey-Saint-Denis, the Ponsot family cultivates some of the region's most prized vineyards – including Grand Crus such as Chambertin, Clos de Bèze, and Montrachet.
What makes Ponsot special is its uncompromising philosophy of quality. The winery works traditionally, with minimal intervention in the cellar to authentically preserve the essence of each terroir. Clos de la Roche
The Ponsot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2009 is among the most exceptional Pinot Noir Wines from Burgundy. The Ponsot estate has cultivated parcels in this privileged location in Morey-Saint-Denis for generations, vinifying using traditional, uncompromising methods. The old vines in Clos de la Roche contribute mineral depth and remarkable complexity, which are impressively manifested in this Grand Cru.
The 2009 Vintage displays seductive elegance: spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts, extended aging in French barriques, and minimal intervention in the cellar preserve the authentic character of the terroir. Ponsot consciously avoids excessive extraction, allowing the wine time to develop. The result is a Burgundian Pinot Noir of classic grandeur.
The nose reveals layers of dark cherries, forest floor, truffles, and delicate spice notes. On the palate, a silky texture unfolds with a precise acidity, supported by ripe tannins. Notes of red berries, undergrowth, and a subtle hint of smoke meld into a harmonious whole. The finish is long, elegant, and remarkably deep – a wine that can age for years to come.
