1996 was a Vintage in Burgundy characterized by clear, cool nights and warm autumn weather – ideal conditions for slow ripening and precise aromatics. The Clos des Chènes vineyard is situated in a prime Premier Cru location on calcareous soil, which imparts the wine with its characteristic mineral tension. Michel Lafarge vinified it using classic methods: extended maceration, aging on the lees, and maturation in barrels with minimal oak influence. The result is a wine that has reached its peak after more than 25 years of bottle aging.
