Its name dates back to Charlemagne, who had vines planted here in the 8th century.

The 2017 Vintage was carefully hand-harvested and fermented on the estate using natural yeasts. It was then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, with only about 15 percent being new. This meticulous vinification preserves the mineral precision of the terroir and allows the Chardonnay to fully express its complexity. Bonneau du Martray operates according to biodynamic principles, which is reflected in the vibrancy and depth of the wine.

On the nose, the 2017 Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne opens with aromas of ripe pears, white peach, and hazelnut, underpinned by delicate herbal notes and a hint of toasted bread. On the palate, it displays a buttery texture balanced by firm minerality and vibrant acidity. Layers of citrus fruits, brioche, and subtle spices unfold, accompanied by a saline note that lends the wine great depth. The finish is long, cool, and impressively precise.
