About the manufacturer
Louis Roederer
Louis Roederer is one of the world's most traditional and independent champagne houses – based in Reims since 1776 and still family-owned today. This makes the brand truly special in an industry dominated by corporations.
The house is renowned for its perfection and distinctive style. Louis Roederer cultivates its own vineyards, thus controlling the entire value chain and guaranteeing consistently high quality. The legendary Cuvée Cristal, originally created for the Russian Tsar, is proof of this: it is considered one of the world's finest champagnes, distinguished by its elegance, complexity, and aging potential.
You can recognize Louis Roederer champagne by its precise acidity, subtle dosage, and harmonious balance between power and finesse. Whether Cristal Brut or Cristal Brut Rosé – every bottle reflects the house philosophy: quality over quantity, craftsmanship over trends.
At Wine In Time you will find a curated selection of these great champagnes and benefit from expert advice from true connoisseurs.

Champagne
The Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2008, in its monumental 6-liter bottle, is the ultimate prestige cuvée – a Champagne that makes history and sets new standards. The traditional house of Louis Roederer cultivates its vineyards in Champagne biodynamically and harvests exclusively by hand. Only Grand Cru vineyards are used for the Cristal, and the cuvée consists of approximately 60 percent Pinot Noir and 40 percent Chardonnay. The grapes of the 2008 Vintage are characterized by their cool elegance and precise acidity – a year destined for longevity.
After gentle pressing, the Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2008 matures for at least six years on the lees in the cool chalk cellars of Reims. The dosage is deliberately restrained at just six grams per liter to preserve the wine's mineral purity and depth. The result is a Champagne of impressive complexity that takes its time to unfold its facets.
On the nose, aromas of white peach, citrus zest, and freshly baked brioche unfold, underpinned by delicate notes of hazelnut and chalk dust. On the palate, the 2008 Cristal is taut and precise, with a creamy texture and a penetrating minerality. The perlage is fine and persistent, the finish long, saline, and of sublime clarity. A Champagne that already delights, but has decades of aging ahead of it.
