Louis XIII
Rémy Martin Louis XIII is more than a Cognac – it is a tribute to time, patience, and the exceptional terroir of Grande Champagne, the heart of the Cognac region. For generations, Maison Rémy Martin has blended up to 1.200 eaux-de-vie for Louis XIII, the oldest of which are a century old. Each bottle bears the signature of several cellar masters and tells the story of a family that has preserved this legacy since 1874.
The vinification of Rémy Martin Louis XIII follows an unparalleled ritual. Only Ugni Blanc grapes from the Grande Champagne, the Premier Cru of the Cognac appellation, are distilled and aged in Limousin oak barrels. The blending is an act of utmost precision: only the finest, most harmonious distillates make it into the legendary Baccarat crystal decanter, whose shape is modeled on the original 16th-century bottle. Each decanter is handcrafted and numbered – a work of art in itself.
On the nose, a firework display of dried rose petals, ripe figs, honey, and cinnamon unfolds, accompanied by notes of leather, fine spices, and a hint of tobacco. The palate reveals incredible complexity: candied fruits, dates, cocoa, and orange peel meld into a silky, oily texture. The finish is virtually endless, warm, and enveloping, with hints of walnut, oak, and a subtle sweetness that lingers long after you've finished.
