In the picturesque coastal region of Bolgheri, where the Mediterranean climate meets mineral-rich clay soils, this legendary Merlot is produced on just seven hectares of privileged vineyard land. The vinification of the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Masseto 2017 Magnum is carried out with uncompromising precision. Each parcel is fermented separately in French oak barrels, and malolactic fermentation takes place entirely in the wood. The wine then matures for twelve months in new barriques, followed by a further twelve months in the bottle. This elaborate treatment gives the wine its characteristic structure and its enormous aging potential.
On the nose, an intense bouquet of black cherries, cassis, and plums unfolds, accompanied by hints of dark chocolate, graphite, and Mediterranean herbs.
