The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru 1996 is a Burgundian icon from the heart of Vosne-Romanée. This legendary estate cultivates only 5,29 hectares of the Grand cru location Romanée-Saint-Vivant and produces a Pinot Noir of exceptional precision. The 1996 Vintage is considered classically Burgundian: structured, long-lasting, and characterized by cool elegance.
The vinification follows centuries-old traditions. Hand-harvested grapes, wild yeasts, long maceration in open wooden vats, followed by 18 to 20 months of aging in new oak barrels. No filtering, no fining – the 1996 Romanée-Conti Romanée-Saint-Vivant is pure and unadulterated. Each bottle bears the signature of a Vintage that has now reached its full drinking maturity.
The nose reveals aromas of dried rose petals, cherry compote, forest floor, and a hint of truffle. On the palate, it displays a silky texture, fine tannins, vibrant acidity, and a depth that only Grand Crus of this appellation develop. The finish is long and spicy, with notes of dark chocolate and fine oak.
