Domaine de la Grange des Pères is one of the most sought-after wineries in southern France. Find out here why the Wines of Grange des Pères enjoy cult status.
Despite numerous obstacles, the Grange des Peres winery has achieved cult wine status. The complications encountered during vineyard cultivation have given rise to the very myths surrounding these great Wines from the Languedoc. After spending his early career with masters such as Jean-François Coche-Dury (Meursault), Gérard Chave (Hermitage), and Eloi Durrbach (Domaine Trévallon, Provence), Laurent Vaillé settled in the L'Hérault region of the Languedoc and acquired his own estate near Aniane in 1989.
This region is known for its exceptionally hard soil, characterized by a high limestone content. Few would have imagined that vines could thrive on this arid ground. Despite the obstacles and the use of dynamite to reduce the rock and limestone, the winemaker persevered and created something remarkable. The effort has clearly paid off! The area has not only produced fantastic Wines but also fascinating wine personalities.
On the vineyard soil thrive Syrah, Marsanne, and Roussane cuttings from Gérard Chave, as well as the renowned Cabernet Sauvignon from Domaine de Trévallon. Yields are limited to approximately 20-25 hectoliters per hectare. The "chalice style" pruning technique produces the ideal result: powerful yet restrained Wines. These Wines embody the character of the French Mediterranean in every sip. Their particularly pronounced and distinctive texture on the palate is exceptional.
Even at a young age, these Wines are approachable. However, they also show great potential for aging.

The Wines of the Grange des Pères
Grange des Pères produces a red and a White Wine of rare precision. The red Grange des Pères blends Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cabernet Sauvignon to create a dense, age-worthy wine. The white is based on Roussanne, Marsanne, and Chardonnay and impresses with its depth and freshness. Both Wines age well and gain complexity over the years.
Grange des Pères: cult status from the Languedoc
Founded in 1989 by Laurent Vaillé, Grange des Pères quickly became the benchmark for great Wines from the Languedoc. Following Vaillé's untimely death in 2021, the family continues the legacy. Small production and high demand make Grange des Pères Wines sought-after rarities today.
