About the manufacturer
Etienne Sauzet
Etienne Sauzet is a winery from Puligny-Montrachet, in the heart of Burgundy, known for its crystal-clear, elegant White Wines made from Chardonnay. The winery embodies the philosophy of the fine Burgundy tradition: respect for the terroir, precise winemaking, and the pursuit of authenticity rather than over-extraction.
Sauzet Wines are characterized by their minerality, freshness, and balance – you won't find overripe or over-oaked interpretations here, but rather Wines that directly reflect their origin. Vineyards like Les Combettes and Champ Canet are classic terroirs that, in Sauzet's hands, reach their full potential. Each Vintage is vinified with great care, resulting in complex, age-worthy Wines that bring joy year after year.
What makes this winery special is its consistent high quality – Sauzet reliably delivers top-notch Wines without sacrificing the subtle nuances that characterize true Burgundy Wines. Whether you're just starting out with the fine White Wines of Burgundy or are already a connoisseur, at Wine In Time you'll find a carefully curated collection from Etienne Sauzet that will delight you.

The Etienne Sauzet Bienvenues Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2020 is one of the most important White Wines from Burgundy. The Etienne Sauzet estate is among the absolute icons of Puligny-Montrachet and produces a Chardonnay from this tiny Grand Cru vineyard that commands awe from connoisseurs worldwide. Burgundy Wines enjoy a legendary reputation for good reason – and this Grand Cru is the best example of that.
The grapes come from the Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet vineyard, where ancient vines grow on calcareous soils. Vinification is carried out traditionally in French oak barrels, where the wine develops a complex maturity without losing its crystalline precision. The 2020 Vintage combines richness with freshness and exemplifies why Etienne Sauzet is considered the benchmark for Grand Cru Chardonnay.
On the nose, a captivating bouquet of white blossoms, ripe pears, and hazelnuts unfolds, underpinned by fine minerality and a delicate toasty note. On the palate, the Etienne Sauzet Bienvenues Bâtard-Montrachet 2020 reveals a buttery, creamy texture, embedded in vibrant acidity and saline nuances. The finish is long, complex, and impressively deep.
At Wine In Time, you can order this exceptional Grand Cru online and have it delivered directly to Vienna – express delivery included. Also, explore our selection of White Wines for other rare finds from around the world.
