Clos de la Maltroie
The Michel Niellon Clos de la Maltroie 2020 is a Premier Cru Chardonnay from the heart of Chassagne-Montrachet, one of the most sought-after vineyards in Burgundy . Michel Niellon is one of the quiet masters of the region – his Wines speak more subtly than many others, but with all the greater precision and depth.
The 2020 Clos de la Maltroie was vinified in the classic Burgundian style: spontaneously fermented, aged in French barriques, about a third of which were new. The vineyard produces Wines with remarkable minerality, and this Vintage is particularly well-balanced – cool, yet with ripe fruit, structured, but never harsh.
On the nose, aromas of white peach, lemon balm, and roasted hazelnuts unfold, underpinned by a subtle limestone note. On the palate, the 2020 Michel Niellon Clos de la Maltroie is creamy yet firm, with an acidity that lends length and elegance. The finish is saline and lingering, with hints of brioche and stone fruit – a wine that begs to be aerated and will continue to develop for hours.
At Wine In Time in Vienna, you'll find this and other hand-picked White Wines in our White Wine selection . Order the Michel Niellon Clos de la Maltroie 2020 conveniently online and enjoy express delivery directly to your home.
Serve it at 11–13 °C with pan-fried turbot, scallops in butter, or a mature Comté cheese. A wine that deserves time and attention – and gives both back.
