The 1999 Jean Louis Chave Hermitage Rouge is among the most exceptional Wines the Northern Rhône has ever produced. The Jean Louis Chave estate has cultivated parcels in some of the Hermitage's finest vineyards for generations and is considered the absolute benchmark for Syrah. Rhône Wines enjoy the highest international acclaim, and this Vintage perfectly exemplifies the magic of this region.
Vinification is carried out traditionally: spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts, long maceration, and aging in large, old foudres. No modern oenology, no fining agents – just the pure terroir and the signature of a master. The 1999 Vintage benefited from an exceptional year, combining concentration and elegance.
On the nose, a firework display of dark fruits, violets, truffles, and graphite unfolds.
