About the manufacturer
FX Pichler
FX Pichler is one of the Wachau's top wineries and represents Riesling of the highest caliber. With its vineyards on the steep slopes of the Danube, this Austrian winery has been producing Wines of impressive minerality and elegance for generations. Vineyards like Steinertal and Kellerberg are classics that demonstrate just how magnificent Austrian Riesling can be – powerful, precise, and with a saline minerality that instantly transports you to the Wachau.
What makes FX Pichler special is the combination of tradition and precision. The grapes are selectively harvested, and fermentation occurs spontaneously with wild yeasts – resulting in Wines of incredible depth and complexity. The characteristic FX Pichler style is dry, mineral, and age-worthy, without sacrificing elegance. You won't find overripe or over-extracted Wines here, but rather purism in the truest sense.
With 26 products in our range, you can explore the full spectrum of this winery – from classic single-vineyard Wines to experimental cuvées. At Wine In Time, you get authentic Wachau classics from a producer who has maintained unwavering standards for decades.

The FX Pichler Kellerberg Smaragd 2007 in the impressive 1,5l magnum is a tribute to the Wachau region and the expertise of one of Austria's most legendary winemaking families . The Kellerberg vineyard lies on the north bank of the Danube and yields Grüner Veltliner of unparalleled concentration and mineral precision. Wines from this terroir can age for decades – especially in the magnum bottle, which ensures optimal development.
FX Pichler vinifies his Smaragd Wines with the utmost care: spontaneous fermentation, extended lees aging, and a conscious decision to forgo malolactic fermentation. The result is a wine of tremendous tension and depth. The 2007 Vintage was considered challenging, but in the hands of Franz Xaver Pichler Jr., it became a masterpiece of balance.
On the nose, this 2007 FX Pichler Kellerberg reveals green notes of nettle and herb garden, interwoven with flinty smoke and a hint of ripe pear. On the palate, it unfolds with impressive density: salty minerality, a firm structure, and a vibrant acidity that carries the wine. The finish is long and cool, with the typical flinty finish that lingers for minutes.
