About the manufacturer
Sine Qua Non
Sine Qua Non is a California winery from Paso Robles, renowned for its unconventional and extremely limited productions. The founder and winemaker follows a radical philosophy: each bottle is a work of art, each Vintage an experiment with its own name and often its own design.
You won't find any standard Wines here. Sine Qua Non works with unusual grape blends and boldly experiments with vinification and style. Wines like "The Hated Hunter" or "Kolibri" are an expression of this artistic freedom – intense, complex, and often polarizing. The winery deliberately produces in tiny quantities, making these Wines highly sought-after collector's items.
Quality is non-negotiable. Despite the playful approach, the Wines produced possess great depth and aging potential, offering a unique interpretation of the Californian terroir. Each bottling tells a story and challenges you to reconsider your expectations of taste.
At Wine In Time you will find a curated selection of these rare treasures – for all those who dare to drink beyond the ordinary.

The 2007 Sine Qua Non Pictures Magnum is far more than just wine – it's liquid art from Manfred Krankl. This iconic Californian wine comes from old Grenache vines rooted in barren soils, producing grapes of exceptional concentration. Vinification is carried out with uncompromising dedication: spontaneous fermentation, slow extraction, and aging in French oak barrels. Each bottle is numbered by hand – a testament to Krankl's philosophy that great Wines know no compromise.
On the nose, the 2007 Sine Qua Non Pictures unfolds an opulent bouquet of black cherries, blackberry jelly, and candied violets. Spicy notes of licorice, graphite, and cocoa mingle with a hint of garrigue—that Mediterranean herbal bouquet that makes Grenache so distinctive. On the palate, the volcanic power is evident: silky tannins carry layers of dark fruit, mocha, and mineral freshness. The finish is endless, vibrant, with a trace of white pepper and toasted sesame.
