About the manufacturer
Sine Qua Non
Sine Qua Non is a California winery from Paso Robles, renowned for its unconventional and extremely limited productions. The founder and winemaker follows a radical philosophy: each bottle is a work of art, each Vintage an experiment with its own name and often its own design.
You won't find any standard Wines here. Sine Qua Non works with unusual grape blends and boldly experiments with vinification and style. Wines like "The Hated Hunter" or "Kolibri" are an expression of this artistic freedom – intense, complex, and often polarizing. The winery deliberately produces in tiny quantities, making these Wines highly sought-after collector's items.
Quality is non-negotiable. Despite the playful approach, the Wines produced possess great depth and aging potential, offering a unique interpretation of the Californian terroir. Each bottling tells a story and challenges you to reconsider your expectations of taste.
At Wine In Time you will find a curated selection of these rare treasures – for all those who dare to drink beyond the ordinary.

The Inaugural
The Sine Qua Non The Inaugural 2003 marks a milestone in Californian wine history. Manfred Krankl, an Austrian winemaker and visionary, founded Sine Qua Non in the 1990s and created a legendary Syrah with this Vintage, captivating collectors worldwide. The California winery stands for uncompromising quality and absolute rarity – each Vintage receives a new label, a new story.
The Inaugural 2003 is made from hand-picked Syrah grapes from the finest vineyards. Vinification follows traditional methods with extended maceration and aging in French oak barrels. Manfred Krankl's philosophy: minimal intervention, maximum expression. This wine showcases the full power and finesse of Californian terroir.
On the nose, dense aromas of black fruits, dark chocolate, licorice, and Provençal herbs unfold. On the palate, the Sine Qua Non The Inaugural 2003 presents itself as opulent and complex: juicy blackberries, ripe plums, pepper, and a subtle smokiness meld into a monumental taste experience. The tannins are velvety smooth, the structure perfectly balanced. The finish is endless, profound, and unforgettable.
