About the manufacturer
Franz Hirtzberger
Franz Hirtzberger is one of the most renowned wineries in the Wachau, that legendary wine region on the Danube world-famous for its mineral-driven, precise White Wines. For generations, the estate has cultivated terraces with vines, some over 50 years old, in prime locations such as Honivogl, Steinporz, and Singerriedel – names you'll find on many of their bottles.
What distinguishes Hirtzberger is its unmistakable style: Grüner Veltliner and Riesling of extreme elegance and vibrancy, directly reflecting the slate, gneiss, and loess of their origin. The Wines are not opulent, but rather taut and dynamic – they show you what great Austrian White Wine can be. The winery works with a strong sense of tradition, respects the nature of its vineyards, and lets the grapes speak for themselves, rather than over-processing them.
With 27 products in our range, you have the opportunity to discover the full spectrum of this classic wine – from powerful to delicate, mineral interpretations. At Wine In Time, you'll find Hirtzberger Wines that will transport you directly to the steep slopes of the Wachau.

Ried Setzberg
The Franz Hirtzberger Ried Setzberg 2021 is an impressive Smaragd Riesling from the legendary Wachau region. The Franz Hirtzberger winery is among Austria's most renowned producers , and with this single-vineyard selection, they capture the unmistakable character of a terroir defined by stony soils and cool nights.
The grapes for the Franz Hirtzberger Ried Setzberg 2021 come from the eponymous steep vineyard, where weathered primary rock and optimal sun exposure ensure exceptional concentration. Vinification is carried out classically in large wooden barrels, preserving the mineral precision and freshness of the Riesling. The Smaragd status guarantees fully ripe grapes and a powerful body with a dry style.
On the nose, this Franz Hirtzberger Ried Setzberg 2021 displays green and flinty aromas – notes of green apple, citrus peel, and a cool minerality reminiscent of wet stone. On the palate, a vibrant structure unfolds with precise acidity, supported by subtle fruit and saline minerality. The finish is long, clean, and laced with fine spice.
At Wine In Time, you can order this exceptional Riesling online and benefit from express delivery directly to your door in Vienna. Explore our entire selection of White Wines and discover other treasures from Austria.
Serve the wine slightly chilled at 10–12 degrees Celsius with shellfish, crab, or lobster. It is also a delight with fried fish with herb butter or asparagus with hollandaise sauce.
