About the manufacturer
Pol roger
Pol Roger is one of the most traditional Champagne houses and has stood for elegant, balanced Champagnes from the Champagne region since 1849. Based in Épernay, the house enjoys a reputation among connoisseurs for creating Champagnes that combine finesse and complexity without becoming opulent.
What makes Pol Roger special is its philosophy of authenticity. The house focuses on classic champagne production, long aging periods, and the art of blending. You notice this immediately when drinking it: the champagnes are precise, mineral, and develop a fine perlage that accompanies you at every stage of enjoyment.
The "Sir Winston Churchill" series is a loving tribute to the British Prime Minister, who favored Pol Roger throughout his life. These prestige cuvées mature significantly longer than standard champagnes and showcase the House's true capabilities: complex aromas, depth, and a silky-elegant texture.
At Wine In Time you will find curated Pol Roger champagnes that are truly special – perfect if you want to experience not just champagne, but real craftsmanship.

The Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill Brut 1999 is a tribute to the legendary friendship between the Pol Roger family and Sir Winston Churchill. This exceptional Champagne from the Champagne region combines the house's finest parcels and represents the Grand Cru style in its most perfect form. 1999 is considered one of the great classic Vintages – powerful, elegant, and with enormous aging potential.
The vinification process adheres to the strictest standards: a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the exact composition of which remains a closely guarded secret. The grapes come exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards, and aging on the lees extends over many years. The result is a Champagne of exceptional complexity and structure, which has made superb use of its time in the cellar.
On the nose, the Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill Brut 1999 reveals ripe aromas of roasted hazelnuts, brioche, and candied citrus fruits, underpinned by subtle toasty notes. On the palate, it is powerful yet elegant, with a silky texture, vibrant freshness, and impressive depth. The finish is long, complex, and marked by fine minerality – a Champagne that perfectly reflects Winston Churchill's passion for great, characterful Wines.
