About the manufacturer
Sine Qua Non
Sine Qua Non is a California winery from Paso Robles, renowned for its unconventional and extremely limited productions. The founder and winemaker follows a radical philosophy: each bottle is a work of art, each Vintage an experiment with its own name and often its own design.
You won't find any standard Wines here. Sine Qua Non works with unusual grape blends and boldly experiments with vinification and style. Wines like "The Hated Hunter" or "Kolibri" are an expression of this artistic freedom – intense, complex, and often polarizing. The winery deliberately produces in tiny quantities, making these Wines highly sought-after collector's items.
Quality is non-negotiable. Despite the playful approach, the Wines produced possess great depth and aging potential, offering a unique interpretation of the Californian terroir. Each bottling tells a story and challenges you to reconsider your expectations of taste.
At Wine In Time you will find a curated selection of these rare treasures – for all those who dare to drink beyond the ordinary.

Poker face
The 2004 Sine Qua Non Poker Face is one of the most sought-after rarities from California's wine elite. Since the 90s, Manfred Krankl and his Sine Qua Non winery on California's Central Coast have been creating Wines that instantly become legends – small production runs, iconic labels, and uncompromising quality. The 2004 Poker Face is a single-varietal Syrah made from hand-picked grapes, vinified with meticulous precision, and aged in French oak barrels. Each bottle bears the signature of a perfectionist.
On the nose, the 2004 Poker Face unfolds a dramatic array of aromas: black cherries, cassis, and preserved plums, paired with licorice, dark chocolate, and a hint of tobacco. On the palate, it displays opulent fruit, perfectly integrated with silky tannins and a vibrant acidity. Nuances of espresso, cloves, and black olives lend it complexity and depth. The finish is endless and elegant, with a mineral freshness that keeps the wine lively despite its power.
