Founded in 1994 by Austrian-born Manfred Krankl and his wife Elaine, the small garage project has evolved into one of the most sought-after wineries in the world. Their credo is: no repetitions, no compromises, no wine without personality. Every bottle tells its own story.
At the heart of it all is a passion for Rhône grape varieties. Syrah and Grenache form the backbone, complemented by Mourvèdre or rare varieties such as Touriga Nacional and Petit Manseng. The estate's own vineyards—Eleven Confessions, The Third Twin, and Cumulus—are cultivated with the utmost care and extremely low yields. The Wines exhibit density, spice, and expressiveness, combined with astonishing finesse. A key characteristic of Sine Qua Non is the artistic design of each individual bottling. Every Vintage receives a new name, a unique bottle shape, and a label designed by Manfred Krankl.
