Corton Charlemagne
The Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru 2006 is a monument to Burgundian winemaking. The Bonneau du Martray estate has cultivated one of Burgundy's most famous vineyards for generations – Corton-Charlemagne, named after Emperor Charlemagne. On the chalky slopes of the Côte de Beaune, Chardonnay grapes of unparalleled finesse thrive.
The 2006 Vintage is considered classic and age-worthy. After spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts, the wine matures for 12 months in French barriques, with only a small percentage of new barrels being used. The result: a wine that combines power with elegance, without being dominated by oak.
On the nose, aromas of ripe pear, hazelnut, and white blossoms unfold, underpinned by a delicate minerality. On the palate, the 2006 Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne reveals its buttery complexity: a creamy texture, vibrant acidity, and notes of brioche, honey, and stone fruit. The finish is long, saline, and impressively deep—a wine that will continue to evolve even after years of aging.
